Beth Johnston

The School of Business Administration at Georgia Southwestern State University was pleased to have Beth Johnston, Director of Human Resources, Airport Customer Service, Delta Air Lines, as the speaker for the second School of Business Administration Executive Lecture Series (SBELS) for the 2000-2001 academic year. Ms. Johnston joined Delta in 1977 and is currently responsible for leading all human resources activities for the 20,000 Airport Customer Service employees, located in 123 domestic locations. 

Ms. Johnston held a number of management positions before being named to her current post in 1999. She began her career as a flight attendant in Atlanta. Ms. Johnston moved to Information Services in 1979 and spent 12 years in supporting the technology needs of In-Flight Service and Flight Operations. In 1991, Ms. Johnston moved to the Finance Division as a key leader in the reengineering of Delta's financial systems. In 1996, Ms. Johnston returned to the operations side of the airline as Director, Planning and Performance for Airport Customer Service. She served in the this capacity until being promoted into her current role. 

A native of Sylvester, Georgia, Ms. Johnston graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Music. In 1985, Ms. Johnston received an MBA from Georgia State University. Ms. Johnston and her husband, David, live in Atlanta with their two daughters.
