The School of Business Administration at Georgia Southwestern State University was pleased to have J. Kenneth Clark, a native of Raeford, N. C to speak at the Executive Lecture Series. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Journalism. With journalism degree in hand, he first went with the Charlotte, N. C., Observer as a reporter and editorial writer. Five years later he entered the public relations profession. His professional career included positions as Corporate News Bureau Director of Monsanto Company in St. Louis, senior Vice President and Corporate Communications Director of North Carolina National Bank in Charlotte (now the Bank of America), Public Affairs Director of M&M/Mars in Hackettstown, N. J., and Timberlands public relations manager of West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company in New York. He retired in July 1992 after 11 years as vice president and a member of the Executive Staff of Duke Power Company in Charlotte, the nation's seventh-largest public utility at the time. Mr. Clark has been accredited by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), and has been inducted into that 20,000-member professional society's College of Fellows. He also chaired the Media Relations Committee of the U. S. Council for Energy Awareness, the Electric Power Research Institute Communications Committee and the Edison Electric Institute Communications Committee. Ken and his wife, the former Shirley Morgan, moved to Buena Vista five years ago to be closer to his wife's elderly parents. He is now chairman of the Marion County Development Authority, chairman of the six-county Valley Partnership Joint Development Authority, and an invited member of the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee.
